Congratulations to TAS year 12 student, Will Stoddart on being a finalist in the recent Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC) School Based Trainee of the Year Award. Will was one of the top three candiates across NSW and OLD out of a possible 260. He attended an award ceremony at Maitland where he was present with a Certificate and prize money of $500. Will has been now nominated for the NSW State Training Awards in Schools Student of the Year, where he has a good chance to proceed on to the regional levels.
Will is a school based trainee in Agriculture with a focus on Stock and Staion Agent. He is employed through New England North West Group Training (NENWGT). His host employer is Jackson's Livestock and Property of Guyra, where he has worked for 18 months.
School based traineeships have expanded within TAS in the last two years with 25 boys currently enrolled in a school based traineeship. Boys in year 10, 11 and 12 can do a traineeship or apprenticeship covering a wide range of trades including plumbing, building, electrical, hospitality, agriculture and automotive and more.
