Trainee of the Year Finalist

 Congratulations to TAS year 12 student, Will Stoddart on being a finalist in the recent Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC) School Based Trainee of the Year Award. Will was one of the top three candiates across NSW and OLD out of a possible 260. He attended an award ceremony at Maitland where he was present with a Certificate and prize money of $500. Will has been now nominated for the NSW State Training Awards in Schools Student of the Year, where he has a good chance to proceed on to the regional levels.
 
Will is a school based trainee in Agriculture with a focus on Stock and Staion Agent. He is employed through New England North West Group Training (NENWGT). His host employer is Jackson's Livestock and Property of Guyra, where he has worked for 18 months.
 
School based traineeships have expanded within TAS in the last two years with 25 boys currently enrolled in a school based traineeship. Boys in year 10, 11 and 12 can do a traineeship or apprenticeship covering a wide range of trades including plumbing, building, electrical, hospitality, agriculture and automotive and more.

Hosts Wins a Bronze Award at the Royal Fine Food Show

Congratulations to Ross Patch, on winning a bronze award cappuccino at this year's Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. The blend that won the award for Mr Patch could not be more locally indentifable - Signature 2350.
 
Competition for these awards is very fierce, with some of the biggest names in coffee blending competing for the titles. Ross also won an award last year and this year he has proved not only to be up with the best.
 
Mr Patch, a passiontate tea and coffee exponent, describes his winning postcode mix as "soft to the plate with no after bitterness, chocolate overtones and a smooth finish".
 
"I'm very critical and my customers are very critical, which is the best way of achieving high standards, people are a lot more knowledgeable and discriminating about coffee these days and they respond very positively to unique blends and freshness," Ross said
 
He sells 20 varieties of coffee at the cafe as well as 150 varieties of loose leaf tea, all sourced internationally. For the absolute connoisseur he also has some civet cat coffee form Indonesia and some very fine Jaimacain coffee.

Rodeo Apprentices and Trainees

It seems that we have some very tallented apprentices and trainees who pursue rodeo as a passtime on week ends.  Blake Pine, a plumbing apprentice hosted to Dillons Plumbing in Tamworth is currently leading the total prize winnings for the Open Bull Ride at $3,774.85.  Michael Easey is a building apprentice with Building and Urban Developments is doing well in the Novice Bull Ride having won $641.85.  Last but not least Emily Learmonth recently won an event winning $581.50 in the Barrel Race.  Emily is a Business Administration Trainee with the Australian Bush Campdraft Association.  Well done guys.
